THE TEXT IN LITURGY - Psalm 113 opens Hallel, the special liturgy of praise and thanksgiving recited on most major and minor festivals, and comprised chiefly of psalms 113-118. 

THE MUSIC - This setting is cast in a Russian/Slavic vein, with elements of northern and eastern European Jewish style, and utilizes chant modes associated with the Sh’losh Regalim, the three pilgrimage festivals – Pesach (Passover); Shavuot (Pentacost); and Sukkot (Tabernacles).
