Jewish Choral Music For Mixed (SATB) Voices
by Michael Reid Winikoff
Soprano-Alto-Tenor-Bass (SATB), also known as "mixed
voices," is the most common
and standard voicing arrangement in choral music. It may be
comprised of women's and men's voices, boys' and men's voices, or a
combination of the two. Nearly all the works in this choral catalog have been conceived and
scored in their original form for mixed (SATB) choir. These original
versions are listed here. Many SATB settings include at least some
divisi (split voices) in each part.
Havein Yakir Li is for solo duet (SA)
with unison choir (ATB).
Psalm 113 is listed as SSAATTBB due to its extended
passages in full divisi into 8 parts.
The congregational setting of V'shamru
includes a refrain for 2- or 4-part choir (mixed or men's voices).
